Real Madrid player Karim Benzema overtook former Real Madrid player Raul Gonzalez as the club’s all-time leading scorer with his 249th goal in La Liga against Las Palmas last weekend. Benzema now has 261 goals in 440 games for Real Madrid, surpassing the 236 scored by Raul Gonzalez.

Benzema also scored in the Champions League against Sevilla last week, taking his tally for the season to 16 goals in all competitions. This puts him joint fourth in the list of European Cup/Champions League top scorers, just one behind Lionel Messi and two behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
