Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has spoken out in defense of his players after they were forced to return to training on Wednesday. The Reds were given a break following their 4-1 win over Maribor in the Champions League, but were forced to return to Melwood early after several players complained of fatigue.
Klopp said that the players should not be forced to train against their will and that they are entitled to take time off if they feel unfit. “I always think about how can I help the boys and make sure they are fit because I don’t want them to miss out on things because of this job,” he said. “But also, these boys have a life outside football and they need holidays.”
