Som Tum (Green Papaya Salad) Recipe







- Ingredients:
- 2 cups green papaya (shredded)
- 1-2 garlic cloves
- 2-3 Thai chilies (adjust to taste)
- 1 tbsp dried shrimp (optional)
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp palm sugar (or brown sugar)
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- 1-2 cherry tomatoes (halved)
- 2 tbsp roasted peanuts (crushed)
- 4 green beans (cut into 2-inch pieces)
- Instructions:
- In a mortar, pound garlic and chilies until crushed. Add dried shrimp and lightly crush.
- Add sugar, fish sauce, and lime juice; mix well to create a dressing.
- Toss in green beans and tomatoes; lightly crush to release juices.
- Add shredded papaya and gently pound and mix until combined.
- Transfer to a plate and garnish with peanuts.
Serve fresh with sticky rice or grilled meat for a vibrant, spicy, and tangy Thai dish!
