How to Make Bulgogi
Ingredients (Serves 4):

- 500g beef (ribeye, sirloin, or tenderloin), thinly sliced
- 1 small onion (sliced)
- 1 carrot (julienned)
- 3 green onions (chopped)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
For the Marinade:
- 5 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or honey)
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 small pear or apple (grated, optional for tenderizing)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Meat:
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain for tenderness. If not pre-sliced, partially freeze the meat for 30 minutes for easier slicing.
- Make the Marinade:
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and grated pear (if using). Mix well until sugar dissolves.
- Marinate the Beef:
- Add the sliced beef to the marinade. Mix thoroughly to coat all pieces.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (preferably 1-2 hours for better flavor).
- Cook the Bulgogi:
- Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook until browned and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally.
- Add onions, carrots, and green onions halfway through cooking for additional flavor and texture.
- Serve:
- Transfer the bulgogi to a plate and garnish with sesame seeds. Serve hot with steamed rice, lettuce wraps, or as part of a Korean barbecue spread.
